How does Elsa detect submission and feedback workflow issues? (ELSA)
It is easy for Elsa to detect and inform you of overdue assessment submissions and feedback loops that are stuck.
The most important characteristic of successful experiential learning is an efficient and effective feedback cycle for all participants. However, it is difficult to keep track of all the required steps and monitor each learning cycle for each participant manually. That’s why we taught Elsa to detect any issues related to the assessment and feedback workflow.
- Overdue student submissions
- No reviewer assigned
- Overdue review/feedback submissions
- Unpublished reviews
Should Elsa detect any issue, a new todo list entry will be created immediately.
All todo list entries will be visible for 7 days. If you haven’t actioned the suggestion, Elsa will assume that it was not relevant and remove it from your interface.
Detecting Overdue Submissions
Elsa determines overdue submissions based on the assessment due date in your cohort calendar. Every participant who hasn’t submitted any assessment type at the time of the due date will be detected and reported to you.
Suggested Action
Elsa will prompt you to send a reminder to the respective people. When clicking on the todo list item, the message pop up window will appear and guide you through the process.
Available message templates
The default assessment reminder will be the suggested message template.
Tracking
Once the message has been sent, Elsa will tick off the todo list item.

Detecting Missing Reviewers
Although Practera let’s you automate the assignment of reviewers, it is not mandatory to assign reviewers automatically. In case you want to assign reviewers manually, Elsa will inform you of any situation where a reviewer hasn’t been assigned to a moderated assessment submission.
Suggested action
When actioning Elsa’s suggestion, you will be redirected to the assessment management screen. To assign a review, click on the ‘Unassigned’ tab and see a review table. Go to the ‘Reviewer’ column on the right hand side. Then, click on ‘Add Reviewer’ and type in or select the reviewer name and hit the little tick mark to confirm your selection. You can assign Mentors, Coordinators and Administrators to provide feedback.
Tracking
Once the feedback has been published, Elsa will tick off the todo list item.
Detecting Overdue Feedback Reviews
A common pain point for educators delivering experiential learning is the constant need to detect outstanding feedback. Elsa helps you by identifying when an assigned reviewer has not submitted his/her feedback after 3 days (starting from the moment he or she was assigned.
Suggested action
Elsa will prompt you to send a “Remind Reviewer” message to the respective mentors. When clicking on the todo list item, the message pop up window will appear and guide you through the action.
Available message templates
The default reviewer reminder message will be the suggested template.
Tracking
Once the message has been sent, Elsa will tick off the todo list item.

Detecting Unpublished Feedback
Although Practera let’s you automatically publish feedback to make it available to students, it is possible to enforce this step to be manually. In case you want to publish the feedback manually, Elsa will inform you of any situation where a reviewer has submitted his/her feedback, which is now ready for you to publish.
Suggested action
When actioning Elsa’s suggestion, you will be redirected to the assessment management screen. To publish a review, click on the ‘Ready to Publish’ tab. You can publish the feedback to the participant by clicking on the megaphone icon on the very right
